Simple Scrapper Blog Hop + Giveaway!

I am excited to share a few layouts I have completed over the last few weeks!  I honestly used to think that using templates in scrapbooking was kind of like cheating--I would feel guilty when I finished a page that I hadn't thought it all up on my own.  Over time I decided that I was being completely ridiculous!  Templates are awesome!  Templates inspire!  Templates save time!  I LOVE them!  I don't know what I'd do without them!

This month's Simple Scrapper Premium Membership provided me with wonderful options to choose from.  I had a hard time deciding where to start, actually.  I ended up choosing a few photos from a little trip we took to a local farm in the fall.

The story starters that come along with the Simple Scrapper Premium Membership are invaluable to me.  Sometimes I sit down at my computer and don't know where to start.  And sometimes even a template isn't enough--I need help with a theme, a purpose.  I definitely found a meaningful purpose using this month's theme.

You can enter the giveaway for a one-month trial subscription to Simple Scrapper here: http://ow.ly/ctrlx.  Entries will be pooled and one winner selected at 11:59pm CST on Wednesday, February 6. You may enter from multiple blogs!

Be sure to checkout the rest of the blogs--they will definitely inspire you :).

A new year

A new year has brought changes to my creative endeavors!  Sadly, I had to say goodbye to the Creative Team at JessicaSprague.com.  Each designer will now have their own team.  Happily, I said hello to a new group of creative gals at Simple Scrapper.  It is a wonderful resource website to help any scrapper with documenting life's special moments.  Each month there is a new set of templates and story starters available to members, along with fabulous classes and a supportive community.  Here is what I worked on this past month.

November Projects

I'm two weeks late.  But I have an excuse.  It's December!  I created three layouts in November along with our family Christmas card (which I re-created after I found one that I liked from Persnickety Prints.

My biggest project last month had nothing to do with scrapping.  But you can bet I'll be scrapping about it when I get the chance!  Each year at the end of November/beginning of December there is a festival to raise money for a local children's hospital.  Individuals, families, church groups, companies, etc. donate time and money for this festival and it is one of my favorite things about the Christmas season.  The trees are purchased, decorated, and donated and then are auctioned off.  All proceeds go straight to the hospital.  I've  had many family members and friends treated at this hospital and it has a special place in my heart.

One of the girls in my young women class passed away in September and I felt just a few days after her funeral that we should decorate a tree in her honor.  She loved the movie Tangled and we decided that a Rapunzel tree would be perfect.  The young women (and young men!) in the ward worked on ornaments and we were all able to see the finished project together one night during the festival.  I watched as people of all ages and genders walked past the three and I could see that they appreciated it.  It was an experience to remember and I am so happy with the way the tree turned out.
